What it is:  I Am Charlotte Simmons by Tom Wolfe ($10)

Who it’s for:  People who love super soapy trashy wonderfulness.

Why it's yay:  Charlotte Simmons, the smartest girl from the sticks, goes to elite, super sexy, sports-obsessed Dupont college –drama ensues.  It’s smart and trashy and sucks you in completely.  

Novel Week - Galapagos

What it is:  Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut ($10)

Who it’s for:  People who like Vonnegut but only know the famous stuff, People who like weird, apocalyptic, sci fi stories.

Why it's yay:  A ghost narrator tells the weirdly epic story of how humans evolved on the Galapagos Islands after disease wiped out everyone on the mainland in 1986.  Not the obvious Vonnegut choice but one of my favorites. 

Novel Week - Time Traveler's Wife

What it is:  The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger ($16)

Who it’s for:  People who love a smart love story.

Why it's yay:  Henry time travels without warning in and out of Claire’s life – it’s interesting, heartbreaking, and perfect.  

Novel Week - Shantaram

What it is:  Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts ($10)

Who it’s for:  People who travel, People who like epic stories,  People who aren't afraid of a challenge, People who like to read the book before the inevitable movie comes out.  

Where to get it:  Amazon

Why it's yay:  It’s the mostly true story of an escaped Australian convict who fled to Bombay to start a new life there – fascinating, easy to read, and so compelling you forget how long it actually is (944 pages!!!)
